7 Wonders of the World – Exhibition of Global Heritage by 7 Wonders of the World

A campaign new 7 wonders of the world (2000-2007), started in 2000 to finalize the wonders among 200 monuments. Around 100 million people voted by text messages and the internet to tell the 7 wonders of the world. Hence, it was time to renew, and the winners declared on 7 July 2007 in Lisbon.

List of 7 Wonders of the World

The list below is without any ranking, and all winners aim to show the global heritage.

1. The Great Wall of China

It is the world's most massive structure made by man, which makes it one of the 7 wonders of the world. Many emperors and dynasties within the 5th and 16th era built the wall. It is about 1800 years old and made near Beijing, China. On the other hand, the creation of multiple walls overlaps aimed to guard the country's border against Mongols. In this way, it extends to 5,500 miles, but disputed Chinese study claims its length 13,170 miles. 

2. The Taj Mahal

The memorial complex is a unique model of Muslim art via Mughal design in Agra, India. Besides, the emperor Shah Jahan built it in honor of his wife (1632-48), who died while giving birth to her child. It took around 16-20 years and 20,000 workers. Moreover, the complex adds a large garden, pool, and sunken flowerbeds. Further, there are geometric and floral patterns of white marble that show many art cultures. 

3. The Colosseum

The most enduring Rome's icon built between A.D.70 and 80 A.D. and was in use for almost 500 years. It measures 189 by 156 meters and has an intricate vault system. Further, it is capable of having around 50,000 viewers for gladiatorial events as well as animal hunts and battle reenactments. It is one of the 7 wonders of the world that shows the Roman Empire's art innovation. Besides, the earthquake has ruined most of the Colosseum and left one-third of the real. 

4. Petra

It is an old city of Jordan found in Musa valley and nestled by cliffs and hills. Petra has deemed to be a place where water gushed forth by striking a stone by Musa. Anyhow, later, an Arab tribe Nabataeans made it their capital and lived there for more than 400 years. It is because; the spot served the aim of spice and silk trade routes. Further, the expert residents made tunnels and water chambers here. Not only this, but they also cut dwellings, tombs, and temples into the sandstone.

5. Chichén Itzá

The Mayan city in Mexico grew in the 9th and 10th centuries by Maya-Toltec civilization. Further, it has been the trading center for slaves, honey, cloth, and salt for 1200 years and later became a political hub. On the other hand, it had already abandoned when the Spanish came in the 16th century. 

6. Christ the Redeemer

This colossal statue of Christ looms over Brazilians from Corcovado Mountain since 1931 as an eternal good. Moreover, the 130-foot statue designed by Heitor da Silver Costa costs $250,000. It has majorly invested by the Catholic Church in the early 20th century. Further, one of the most recently built art décor weighs 1,145 tons and stands 125 feet tall.

7. Machu Picchu

It is an Incan city of granite rested between two towering Andean peaks. Hiram Bingham excavator found Machu Picchu again; otherwise, it had been unknown until 1911. People can reach the site only by a walk, train, or helicopter. Besides, scholars of nearby Incan capital of Cusco thought it a sacred archaeological center. Despite its isolation in the hills, it has plazas, temples, farm terraces, and living areas.
