High Tech Glasses allow the Blind to see Facial Expressions and Obstacles

BBC reports that a new Gadget, smart glasses, is expected to cost no more than a smartphone; it will turn the world into outlines to assist the people with poor vision see faces and obstacles. It is also hoped to help those who are limited to their homes; they can walk to the corner shop. The smart glasses work has a well-defined working system; a video camera is mounted on the glasses frame and a pocket sized computer processing unit provides images of the nearer objects displaying the see-through picture in eyepieces of the glasses. The transparent electronic displays give an image of nearby obstacles and people. The camera is designed to allow the people to see important things more clearly than before like groups of people, chairs, tables and more. The smart glasses help with three-dimensional awareness, but do not replace lost vision.
