Grasshopper shake is a standard drink in which all the ingredients have
equal parts including white crème de cacao, green crème de menthe and
heavy cream served in martini glass. With the fresh color of milky Astroturf, Jeffery Morgenthaler puts this
drink on his menu;
presenting all things cocktail to you, Morgenthaler won’t disappoint you. His
version of the drink is based on Midwestern style that blends unholy trinity
with vanilla ice cream; its first sip makes you say ‘it’s so good’. The
inherent sweetness and richness of a cocktail made with ice cream and sugary
liqueurs make you have one more. It has a perfect combination of sweet, creamy,
bitter, salty and cooling taste.
Here
is what you should try at least once
1 1/2 ounces green crème de menthe
1 1/2 ounces white crème de cacao
1 ounce half-and-half
1 teaspoon Fernet Branca
Pinch of sea salt
4 ounces (1/2 cup) vanilla ice cream
8 ounces (1 cup) crushed ice, prepared
with a Lewis bag and mallet, a tea towel and rolling pin, or a food processor
Mint sprig for garnish
Combine all
ingredients except the mint sprig in a blender, and blend on high speed until it
gets smooth. Serve in a tall, frozen glass, and garnish with a mint sprig.
