Twitter blocked in Pakistan
Twitter was blocked in Pakistan for several hours. Pakistan’s one of the top telecommunications officials said that it was blocked when Twitter refused to remove the posts offensive to Islam. After the blockage of about eight hours, Twitter was restored before midnight of Sunday. PTA’s chairman, Mohammad Yaseen said that through these tweets, a competition of posting images against Islam was being promoted.
Yaseens said that the orders of blockage ware by the Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology. Later on, Yaseen was informed by the Ministry to restore the access to Twitter but the reason was not disclosed.
